Fri 05/05/2017 Great Neck 5K Run/Walk Virginia Beach (Church of the Holy Family) 6:30 p.m. Proceeds of Run Benefits Teacher 2 Teacher Program and JUST HAITI The Teacher 2 Teacher program originated in 2007. In connection with the Church of the Holy Family Twinning Program. Teacher 2 Teacher sponsors 5 schools in Baptiste Haiti. Over 1,000 students and 35 teachers are supported by the Teacher to Teacher Program Proceeds of the race pay for teacher training. The Church of the Holy Family is teaming with JUST HAITI coffee co-op to support sustainable coffee growing in Baptiste Haiti. Starting in the fall of 2016, twenty four families will be trained by a licensed agronomist to grow coffee. The coffee will be sold to JUST HAITI to be shipped to the United States. FTER RACE PARTY: DINNER AND MUSIC Following the run, join your fellow runners for a festive Creole dinner of black beans and Rice. Quench your thirst with soda or a cash bar of beer, wine and Haitian rum and coke. Enjoy the evening, dancing the night away to the DJ sounds of the 80's and today.

The Oak Hill 5k aims to encourage family fitness, as well as raise funds to benefit programs for Oak Hill students including the purchase of instructional technology and supporting the teaching garden. Sat 05/06/2017 Francie's Family 5K Middletown, MD (Middletown Community Park) 8:00 a.m. The Francie’s Family 5K run/walk was created to honor Francie Billotti-Wood and her family, offer solace and support for those who loved them, and build the spirit of the community that they called home. The goal was never to raise money, but after the great success of the 2010 inaugural race, it became apparent that through the generosity of those who knew and loved the Billotti-Wood Family, we in turn, had an opportunity to further support the Middletown Community Family. This will be the 8th Annual Memorial Race for Francie Billotti-Wood and her family who were tragically killed in April 2009. The event has supported a number of parks and recreation projects in and around the Middletown Valley.

Sat 05/06/2017 Fiesta 5K for ALS Research Baltimore, MD (MEX Baltimore located at Power Plant Live!) 8:00 am Proceeds will benefit the groundbreaking research efforts of the Robert Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins. The Fiesta 5K is the signature event of the Robert Packard Center and has become one of the largest runs in Baltimore. Sun 05/07/2017 Spring Backyard Burn Trail Running Series-Race #4 Lorton, VA (Pohick Bay) 9:00 a.m. Race options - 5.65 mile and 10.05 mile. The EX2 community fell in love with the inaugural Pohick Bay BYB course in 2016 and we are thrilled to bring it back in 2017. Situated on Gunston Cove and adjacent to Mason Neck National Wildlife Refuge and Gunston Hall, home of Founding Father George Mason, Pohick Bay is steeped in beauty and history. The trails are excellent, the water views are amazing, and bald eagle sightings are common. The moderately technical course includes tight single-track, wide open double-track, challenging climbs, and flowy descents. Don’t miss this fantastic addition to the SBYB. The 14th annual Spring Backyard Burn is a series of 5 and 10 mile trail running races held on some of the best trail networks in the Northern Virginia Area. All the courses include a mixture of forested fire roads, twisty hiking trails, stream crossings, grassy fields, and minimal pavement. Race in one, two, three, or all four races of the SBYB (March 5, 19; April 23; May 7). After each race, awards are presented to the top five finishers in each age group. In addition, a point system adding competitors' four-race point totals will be used to determine the top five series finishers in each age group.
