Thu 11/23/2017 Thanksgiving Day MS 10K/5K Run Wilmington, DE (PNC Bank Center) 9:00 a.m. Now celebrating its 39th year, the Thanksgiving Day MS Run has become a holiday tradition for many families in the area. The event includes 10K and 5K runs, a 5K walk, and a kiddie fun run, which is led by Santa and Mrs. Claus. After the run, participants and their families can enjoy refreshments and take photos with Santa. Please note: No pets and no running strollers are permitted. Join the thousands of people who start their holiday feast by working off that pumpkin pie in advance. Run, walk or volunteer to help create a world free of MS.

Thu 11/23/2017 Turkey Trot for Parkinson's 5k Run/Walk & 1 Mile Gobble Wobble Lorton, VA (South County High School) 9:00 a.m. The Turkey Trot for Parkinson's began in 2015 as a way to support Parkinson's research and raise awareness for the disease. It quickly evolved into a wonderful, fun, family friendly, community event that shows support for all of those affected by Parkinson's Disease. In addition to being great race for everyone to enjoy - it’s an opportunity to get up and off the couch, get active with the family, work up an appetite for the feasting and celebrate the start of the Season of Giving! Proceeds from this TeamFox event benefits the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

Trot for Hunger 5K Washington, DC (Freedom Plaza) 9:00 a.m. The only turkey trot in the District, the Trot for Hunger is a local tradition and a way to help people in need on Thanksgiving Day. SOME (So Others Might Eat) is an interfaith, community-based organization that exists to help the poor and homeless of our nation’s capital. We meet the immediate daily needs of the people we serve with food, clothing, and health care. We help break the cycle of homelessness by offering services, such as affordable housing, job training, addiction treatment, and counseling, to the poor, the elderly and individuals with mental illness.

Thu 11/23/2017 Big Turkey Burn 5K & Kid's 1 Mile Williamsburg, VA (New Town) 8:30 a.m. Mettle Events continues its annual Thanksgiving Day 5K at an exciting new venue, New Town in Williamsburg, VA. We’re thrilled to be working with the many great merchants in New Town to bring you a new holiday tradition that provides all that you’ve come to expect from a Mettle Events race; a great fitness and family oriented event with something for everyone. We’ll have great T-shirts, finisher medals, local food and entertainment. Event proceeds will benefit Williamsburg Meals on Wheels and R.L. Wilkinson Family YMCA. As with all FRR races, this will be a festive affair — music, best costume awards, and our World Famous finish line envelopes featuring the random Golden Ticket awards {just hope for a “Willy Wonka-like” golden ticket}. Got Duck Donuts? We do! Rumor has it that we will give away 100 pumpkin pie Duck Donuts! Stay Warm! The Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center has graciously opened its facility so participants and spectators can stay ‘warm’ both pre and post-race. A DJ will play music from 8:00-10:30.

Sat 11/25/2017 Turkey Burnoff 10M & 5M Gaithersburg, MD (Seneca Creek State Park) 8:30 a.m. Work off those extra holiday calories at one of our most popular club races, the 29th running of the Turkey Burnoff 5 and 10 mile (CS) race at Seneca Creek State Park in Gaithersburg. The course is scenic (double loop for 10 milers) and you’ll burn off that third helping of pumpkin pie on the gently rolling hills. The park deer occasionally make a cameo appearance, and they don’t brake for runners!

Sat 11/25/2017 NCR Trail Marathon, Half Marathon & Marathon Relay Sparks Glencoe, MD (Sparks Elementary School) 8:30 a.m. The marathon is the MD RRCA State Trail Marathon Championship. The Northern Central Trail Marathon, Half Marathon, and two person Marathon Relay are held the Saturday after Thanksgiving in northern Baltimore County, Maryland. The majority of the course is run on the scenic and flat Northern Central Railroad Trail. The Half Marathon is the first leg of the Two-Person Relay. The Two-Person Relay covers the same route at the same time as the marathon. Each team member runs a 13.1 mile leg of the relay.

Sat 11/25/2017 NCR Marathon & Half Marathon Sparks Glencoe, MD (Oldfields School) 8:30 a.m. Welcome to the redesigned NCR Marathon and the new NCR Half Marathon presented by the Baltimore Road Runners Club! The new course has a .6 mile downhill road section with the remaining 25.6 miles on the NCR Trail making this the fastest marathon and Boston Qualifier for hundreds of miles! The new half marathon will start and finish the same as the marathon making it too one of the fastest half marathons for hundreds of miles. We will now start at the Historic and beautiful Oldfields School campus with the course running .6 miles down Glencoe Rd. to where it turns onto the NCR trail and goes out and back along the trail to finish on the trail at Glencoe Rd. The trail surface is a compacted combination of dirt and fine stone and winds along the Gunpowder river through quiet farmland.

Sun 11/26/2017 EX2 Adventures Fall Backyard Burn 5M/10M Trail Running Series - Race #5 Fairfax Station, VA (Fountainhead Regional Park) 9:00 a.m. The 12th annual Fall Backyard Burn is a series of 5 and 10 mile trail running races held on some of the best trail networks in the Northern Virginia Area. All the courses include a mixture of forested fire roads, twisty hiking trails, several stream crossings, grassy fields, and minimal pavement. Fountainhead Regional Park is situated along the banks of the Occoquan Reservoir in Western Fairfax County. This challenging race course is beautiful and consists mostly of hiking trails (including the Bull Run Occoquan Trail), horse trails, and old dirt roads. Competitors will run over rocks and roots, through several streams, and up some hills. This course was a new addition in 2006 and became an immediate hit.
