Sat 06/03/2017 Run for the River Fredericksburg, VA (Old Mill Park) 10:30 a.m. This year the R4R 4-miler is again part of the Rock the River Community Festival. Expect some amazing music, art, and Virginia craft beers – plus a variety of local vendors and family events. All of it is happening at Old Mill Park from 11 am until 8 pm on June 3. If you are a river lover, you can also compete in the 37th Great White Water Canoe Race. Go to the ACA website for details. Sun 06/04/2017 Oy Vey 5k Rockville, MD (Temple Beth Ami) 8:00 a.m. Join us for the 3rd Oy Vey 5K in Rockville! The 5K takes place on a USTAF certified course with chip timing provided by Montgomery County Road Runners Race Management. Age group awards and raffle prizes, along with plenty of post-race food and fun. All proceeds will support Manna, in an effort to alleviate hunger in Montgomery County. Sat 06/10/2017 MUTT STRUT 5k Run & Walk Chestertown, MD (Wilmer Park) 8:30 a.m. The Mutt Strut 5K Run/Walk raises awareness and funds for animals who are homeless and neglected. It supports The Humane Society of Kent County's efforts to continue providing for the welfare of homeless animals, providing a voice through advocacy and education, and giving a second chance to both humans and animals. 100% of the proceeds benefit HSKC. The race will start and finish at Wilmer Park, on the Chester River. The course runs along the river and winds through gentle hills and will keep paws on paved roads. The course will be marked and water stops and restrooms will be provided. Police will direct traffic to ensure runners’ safety along the route. Well behaved, vaccinated dogs on a leash are welcome to participate. One dog per participant. Please enusre that your dog is in proper physical condition to participate. Pet owners are resposible for pet waste.

Our WDF race is part of the Maryland Road Runners Clubs of America WDF Grand Prix Series. It is also the first race of the 2017 Bunion Derby Series. (Note: to earn Bunion Derby points, women must run in the WDF 5K and men must run in the RATW 5K.)

Sun 06/11/2017 Alex's Run 5K Olney, MD (Boys & Girls Park) 7:30 am On a cold AND ICY Sunday morning on his way to basketball practice, Alex’s car slid off the road resulting in a terrible car accident. Despite a valiant effort, Alex succumbed 27 days later to the injuries he suffered. Alex lived an amazing life and fought hard for many of the special things he accomplished at such a young age. Alex, a 17 year-old junior at Sherwood High School, was an outstanding scholar and athlete who was honored to be named captain of both his track and cross country teams. Alex adopted the phrase “Never Back Down” to define his attitude toward life and led by example as a competitive athlete and honor roll student.
