Sat 05/04/2024 Feed Fairfax 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk Fairfax, VA (Greenbriar Town Center, Planet Fitness) 8:00 a.m. Virtual 5K Option Available. Title Sponsor: Superior Paving Corp With Fairfax County being one of the wealthiest counties in our nation, it's surprising to hear that there are a significant number of children who do not have enough food to eat on a regular basis. In 2019, 23,000 children experienced food insecurity. Now, because of COVID-19, that number has doubled, leaving 1 in every 6 kids in Fairfax County suffering from food insecurity. The Feed Fairfax 5K on May 4th, 2024 is a fun 3.1 mile road race through the Greenbriar neighborhood in Fairfax. The race is organized with community partners to raise money and provide food for kids in Fairfax County suffering from food insecurity. 100% of your race entry fee and donations goes to purchasing food to end childhood food insecurity in our county. All of the overhead for the race is covered by our sponsors. These are volunteer-driven events by community members who want to help end food insecurity. What makes this race incredibly unique is that after the race, all participants and volunteers will have the opportunity to assemble Power Packs for elementary school children within our community. Over the last two years, we had over 1,500 people participate in the run/walk, packed over 78,000 meals, and raised $132,000. We know that together we can do even bigger things in our 4th year! THE MIGHTY MILE CHALLENGE: This year all fun run participants (1-milers) will have their race/walk timed thanks to Molly Craig, Realtor®. Participation in the Mighty Mile is optional, but your time will be posted to our results after the conclusion of the event. See website for complete event details.
