Female Finishers
The By-George 8K held at Belle Haven Park this year, February 23, 2002, was not
as popular as the 5 & 10K races traditionally held at Hains Point, however 35
runners and a walker arrived to participate. The temperature was back down to
normal for February but a stiff breeze developed about the time the race started.
The officials at the finish especially suffered when clouds came over and there
were no trees to block the wind. Masters dominated the race leaving eight 20-year
olds scattered through the field. The winning man and woman received cherry pies
as prizes and awards were given to top 3 men and women in 10-year age groups. We
would like to thank the faithful volunteers, Kate DeAngles, Carla Convery, Toni
Letaw, Bob Briggs, Don Riggs, and drafted spectator Risto Martinen, for their
invaluable help.
