DCRRC Al Lewis 10 Miler

This race is held in memory of Al Lewis one of the founders and leaders of the "Health's Angels," the NIH running club. This year the race also served as a challenge race between
DC Road Runners and the Montgomery County Road Runners, to determine possession of a traveling
trophy. Because the Trophy is so rarely in the possession of DCRRC, its size and importance have assumed epic proportions. Rumor has it that the trophy is at least 50' high and is suitable for
display in a DC traffic circle. Since the trophy did not make an appearance at this race, we
can not confirm these legends. However, Janet Newburgh, President of MCRRC, and a member of
both clubs was present, and contrary to examples set in the recent national election, was very
gracious in defeat. If anyone knows the whereabouts of the Trophy, please contact Ms. Newburgh.
