DCRRC Belle Haven 15K Championship
With a turnout twice last year's, although we still competed with Sallie Mae,
we had 2 runners that beat last year's winning time posted by Hiliary Cairns.
Bob Platt returned to defend his men's championship but a marathon the week
before and another year of age slowed him by more than a minute. The weather
was warm and cloudy, OK for runners and good for spectators. We had no
dropouts. Medals went to the top three men and women in each 10-year age group
and the first overall man and woman were awarded a $25 gift certificate from
Sneaker Stadium.
Thanks to the volunteers who drove miles to help others race. They were Susan
Brita, Laura Holzman, Al & Gita Morris, Lillian Peeler & husband, Mike Powel,
George Robertson, equipment chairman James Scarborough, and president Bob
Platt.
