Tidal Basin 3K
December
DCRRC

Ted Poulos ran his 219th race of the year, a world record, to win
in 10:16. Pam Cosgrove and Lisa Flannery won the applause
and the hearts of the crowd as they finished their first races ever.
Dee Nelson was the first woman in 13:50.

Balance Bars sponsored the race, so we took lots of photos afterwards,
and Bob Platt brought DC Road RUnners Club mugs for the first man
and woman, first masters man and woman, and Pam and Lisa.

Chandler Robbins, formerly of Library of Congress,
directed the race. Afterwards, he and Al Dosik and 3K coordinator
Jay Wind measured the course with a surveyor's wheel and found it
about 121 feet too long -- so next month, we may adjust the finish
line.
