When and where? The Third Annual Run for Randi will be Sunday September 30, 2001, rain or shine! The 5K course begins and ends at Columbia Union College (Flower and Carroll Avenues, Takoma Park) and meanders along Sligo Creek Park. Water stations will be available.
When to pickup race packet? Sunday, September 30, 7:30 a.m.-8:45 a.m. (rain or shine.)
Pre-race warm up: The Sergeant's Program
Fall Festival: The Post-race fun, food and games for race participants, friends and family. All ages welcome.
Proceeds: All race proceeds will be donated to Children's National Medical Center (Children Hospital). We have pledged to raise $1000,000 for the building of an adolescent recreation area in the Center for Caner and Blood Disorders. The adolescen recreation area will be called "Randi's Room" and will allow teens receiving chemotherapy and treatment for cancer and blood disorders to enjoy some semblance of normal adolescence care. We plan to provide music as well as computers and games to help entertain the children receiving cancer treatement. In the future, "Randi's Room" will also be a site for special programming by the psychology and educational staffs.
Prizes: Merchandise and prizes will be awarded in a post-race ceremony.
Age Categories: 1st, 2nd, 3rd men's and women's winners for groups: 20 and under, 21-35, 36-50, 51-65, 66-99.
