Before the race, director Jay Jacob Wind rang a memorial bell 184 times to commemorate the 184 victims of Flight 77 and at the Pentagon on September 11, 2001.
Then Sam McFerran took the lead, ahead of Kenyan visitor Hillary Kipchumba and frequent winner Dan Murphy.
Christi Sherman won the women's race, and Colleen Virginia Tomanek ran her last race in the DC area before returning home.
After the race, Peter Blank presented certificates to all finishers listing the names of all the victims.
