Tidal Basin Presidential Fitness Runs

  • Tidal Basin Run, a partner of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, hosted its second Presidential Fitness Runs of 2012 on Presidents Day Monday.
  • Ted Poulos led Peter Blank in the mile, and Tami Graf, recovering from a broken arm, was first among women, ahead of first-time racer Skylar Edgecombe.
  • Bob Platt won the 3000-meter, with Ruth Marie Long the sole female.
  • Mike Cannon broke 21 minutes to win the 5K, ahead of brownie baker extraordinaire Chris Farmer and Kathleena Maria Mumford in her first Tidal Basin Run.
  • Karsten Brown came from the farthest away to win the 10K, after running Washington Birthday Marathon a day earlier. Amanda An set a personal best to be first among women.
