Sat 04/01/2017 7K Run to Remember Ellicott City, Maryland (Centennial Par) 8:00 a.m. The Maryland State’s Attorneys’ Association presents the Fourth Annual 7k Run to Remember at beautiful Centennial Park on Saturday, April 1st, 2017 at 8:00am. The charity run/walk will benefit the Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence and coincides with National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. The race length (4.3 miles) represents one-k for every day of observance or remembrance. There is a 1 mile walk as well.

Sun 04/02/2017 Oy Vey 5K Run and Walk Rehoboth Beach, DE (Junction Breakwater Trail - Cape Henlopen State Park) 9:00 a.m. The day's events include a1 Mile Dog-Friendly Fun Walk / Kids Races. Proceeds of the Oy Vey 5k benefit the educational programs at Seaside Jewish Community. This past fall the students were able to attend an educational day at the Holocaust Memorial Museum in DC. The race will have plenty of infamous “kugel” to nosh (eat) and treats to tempt your palate. If there is something the Jewish Community knows how to do it’s cook and feed the masses. In addition, April 10th is Mitzvah Day (Good Deeds Day). We are asking those participating to bring packages of new socks or undergarments for children ages 2-12. Sat 04/08/2017 Dismal Swamp Stomp 1/2 Marathon, 5K & Cub Run Chesapeake, VA (Dismal Swamp Canal Trail) 8:00 a.m. The flat 13.1-mile course will take runners on a spectacular wilderness journey through lush, mysterious landscape and rich history. Stomp through forested wetlands on a peaceful paved path along the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge. Running parallel to the course is the Dismal Swamp Canal, part of the famed Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway.

This is the 23rd annual race starting in New Quarter Park. A flat out-and-back course with loop into Queens Lake residential neighborhood. Tranquil, scenic woodland setting along asphalt paved roads near the Colonial Parkway, in York County. USATF certified 5K course (VA-08008-RT). One of the fastest courses in the Williamsburg area.

Sat 04/08/2017 University Park Azalea Classic 5K/1M/1K University Park, MD (University Park Elementary School) 8:30 a.m. The 16th Annual Azalea Classic includes 3 races: the 1 Mile Challenge Run (8:30 a.m.); the 1K “Val Creighton Memorial” Family Fun Run (8:45 a.m.); and the 5K Run/Walk (9:05 a.m.). The 5K is a USATF certified course. The race finishes with a DJ, raffle and prizes at the post-race party. Proceeds from the race benefit the students at UPES, the local public elementary school that anchors the neighborhood of University Park. Funds will help them gain opportunities they would not otherwise have, through much needed support for classrooms supplies, teachers, and the school library.

Sat 04/08/2017 Kettle Krush 5K Norfolk, VA (Harbor Park) 8:00 a.m. The Kettle Krush 5k is a great race on a fun and scenic course. Racers run along the beautiful Norfolk water front, winding through the park and then near the turnaround pass the majestic Battleship Wisconsin. The back of the course is less scenic so the epic finish inside the baseball stadium rewards runners for their determination. Entering onto the warning track by right field is an awesome experience. The size of the stadium, the blue seats contrasting with the green grass, the sounds of music and voices cheering make for a surprising and exhilarating experience. Around left field and down the first base line are home plate and the finish line. The day's events include a 1K Fun Run, and an opportunity to see the Norfolk Tides MLB on opening weekend.

Sat 04/08/2017 Stafford Hospital 5K Stafford, VA (Stafford Medical Pavilion) 8:30 a.m. The course is on Hospital property and there is a chance that an Ambulance may need to use the road on the course. There are some significant downhill sections. Because of these conditions, you need to be alert to your surroundings. So, to ensure safety, unregistered runners, unauthorized vehicles, bicycles, skateboards, roller skates, roller blades, baby joggers, the wearing of headphones, or running with dogs are prohibited on the course. If you need music to run, you could always play it though your speakers on your smartphone.

Sat 04/08/2017 This Race is for the Birds! 5K & 10K Run Shepherdstown, WV (Wild Goose Farm) 9:00 a.m. The Potomac Valley Audubon Society is now accepting online registrations for its annual “This Race is for the Birds!” event. The 2017 event will include two professionally timed races — one 5 kilometers long and another 10 kilometers long. There will also be a 1-mile “Fun Run” for children under 10 years of age. The 5 and 10K races will follow non-technical cross-country trails through the farm’s scenic fields, rolling hills and woods. The course is suitable for all runners. Proceeds from this event benefit Potomac Valley Audubon Society’s environmental education and outreach for children and adults in our community — the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia and Washington County, Maryland.
