Charity Information: Benefiting I-ASC. Too many nonspeaking people with sensory-motor disabilities such as Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and Angelman’s Syndrome, among others, live in frustration. Frustration from being unable to communicate their own thoughts, sensations, emotions, perceptions, and needs. Frustration from being underestimated and disrespected by teachers, parents, and peers who do not presume they are competent enough to understand complex ideas and contribute to society. Such frustration can create cycles of trauma and despair that continue throughout nonspeakers’ lives. Thankfully, there is hope for a more inclusive future! The International Association for Spelling as Communication (I-ASC) understands the liberating power of communication. It seeks to make communication accessible globally to all nonspeaking, minimally speaking, and unreliably speaking people. I-ASC is the authority in the science and methodology of Spelling to Communicate, known as S2C™, a method that teaches nonspeakers to communicate by pointing to letters on a letterboard to spell to communicate. The ability to spell to communicate opens a world of possibilities for nonspeaking people, whether it be graduating at the top of their college class, expressing themselves through poetry, or simply participating in a conversation with family at the dinner table.
